About the En Ka Fair
The En Ka Fair has been a tradition in Winchester since planning began in 1934. Scheduled for the third weekend in May, it has grown from a single ride and a few games into a much anticipated occasion. Generations of families in Winchester and surrounding communities have attended and continue to support tradition. The Fair is our primary source of fundraising dollars and funds raised support our Grants, Social Service, Pantry and community outreach programs during the year.
In May, 1935 the En Ka Society held its first street fair. It was a novelty to Winchester and was a huge success, attracting thousands. The first fair was held in the parking lot at the rear of Town Hall, running from Washington Street to what is now known as Sandy’s Island. Brightly painted posts, balloons, and a sign marked the entrance to the “street.”
Continuing to this day, the En Ka Fair marks the beginning of summer for many citizens, old and young alike. We hope you will join us in May for this fun-filled event!
